Weekend in Vancouver

Many of you don’t know this but I was actually born in Vancouver, British Columbia and lived in the Great White North until I was fourteen when I moved to Seattle with my family. Vancouver is one of my all-time favorite cities to visit; it feels very international, it is such a walkable city, the food is incredibly diverse and the buildings are all very modern and unique. Plus it is only a 3 to 4 hour drive from Seattle, depending on the border-crossing traffic. I tend to go in the summer months and love celebrating my birthday in September there. See below for suggestions to spend a fun-filled weekend in Vancouver:

Stay: I have been using the app Hotel Tonight more and more lately. If you want to be spontaneous you can book a hotel the morning of (usually hotel deals go live at 9am) and easily stay there multiple nights for a great deal. Just looking now these hotels are available on Hotel Tonight that I would recommend:

Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier $178 / night

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites $191 / night

I have also stayed in these hotels and have enjoyed my stay:

Fairmont Pacific Rim

Fairmont Waterfront

Eat: There are so many delicious choices… how do I choose?! For breakfast, I usually just walk onto a random street downtown and find a crepe place. They are warm and gooey and I love the crepes with nutella and banana. Also, there are so many things to nibble on at Granville Island (see further down!) so definitely go there with an empty belly.

George Lounge – great place to go for pre-dinner drinks! Try the Gwen Stefani with jasmine vodka, passion fruit and coconut water.

Chambar – Fresh from the ocean seafood, including 3 types of moles frites (mussels with fries).

Best Ramen Places – follow this link to read about the top ramen spots now.

Le Crocodile

The Distillery Bar & Kitchen

Stanley Park – rent bikes, lay on the beach, visit the Aquarium, take in the smells at the rose garden, watch the sunset with a good bottle of wine ;)

Granville Island – If you have a few hours to spare, take a water taxi from downtown to Granville Island. It has one of the best farmer’s markets I’ve ever been to, great restaurants and breweries, live music, galleries and adorable shops.

Downtown – wander around and get lost!
