Weekend Book Review

Hi Everyone! I spent the weekend on the lake soaking up the sun and devouring novels… it was fantastic. I also went on a hike in the Enumclaw area (Mount Peak) with my mom, paddle boarded with my brother and spent some quality time with my dad on Father’s Day. I have had a few books on my Goodreads list waiting for me to read them, and beginning Wednesday evening of last week I was able to get through three of them. There’s nothing I enjoy more than laying on a towel with a refreshing drink, soaking up the sun while getting lost in a good book.

1. We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart – I had seen this book listed on several ‘must read summer 2015’ book lists on Pinterest, and decided to try it out because I love books with surprise endings! I dove into this book headfirst, it pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down… but I’m sorry to say I did guess the surprise ending and was disappointed and left wanting more. 2/5 We Were Liars 2. Zoo, by James Patterson – This book was such a good read! It incorporated science, travel, romance and suspense… I loved it! This will actually be a t.v series beginning June 30, and I already have it set to record. It begins with two lions that escape a zoo and go on a killing spree, and doesn’t stop with just those two. Dogs, bears, panthers and other animals mysteriously go into attack mode over the course of five years against people. 4/5 Zoo 3. Night Road, Kristin Hannah – I really enjoyed Hannah’s other novel, The Nightingale. This one started with a bang, and left me feeling sad and depressed. It dragged on a bit, and was quite predictable. Sorry Kristen! 2/5

I have decided to get back into the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, and am set on finishing the second novel, Dragonfly in Amber. It has taken me a while to get through it but I have heard really great things about the third book in the series, Voyager. If you haven’t seen the t.v series I definitely suggest you do… it is amazing! There are 16 episodes that have aired, and the next 8 will be in September I believe.

Happy Reading!
